I truly beleive in the philosophy "if you can't go IN you, don't put it ON you." i have been making my own herbal and all natural mixtures for my hair, face..etc. for the past 2 years.
i have noticed a BIG difference in the way my skin feels, and looks.
here are a couple recipes that i have found useful.

face wash
this recipe is good for toning your face, and tightening the pores. it soothes and nurishes the skin.
you will need:
*1-2 bags of chamomile tea
*1/2 cup plain soy milk (or reg. milk)
*1 tbsp. honey
*1 tbps. lemon juice
->mix the above ingredients (after
steeping the tea, and allowing it
to cool)
->store in a jar in the fridge for
up to one week.

FACE TONER
this formula is especially effective for OILY, or blemished skin.
you will need:
*3/4 cup of water
*1 tea bag (i like to use green tea, or jasmine)
*1/4 cup witch hazel (an astrigent/toner)
*a couple drops of tea tree oil.
->steep the tea for one hour.
->when it is cool, add the witch hazel and tea tree oil.
->apply with cotten balls
->should be stored in a cool place.

face mosturizure
this face mosturisure is good for any skin types. the yogurt soothes the skin, and tightens pores, while the honey mosturizes, and the lemon acts as an astrigent.
you will need:
*1/2 cup plain yogurt
*1 tbps. lemon juice
*2 Tbsp. honey
mix ingredients well, and store in
the fridge for up to 1 week.
(use AFTER cleaning the face, and leave
on for up to 10-15 min.)
HAIR WASH
i have just started mixing my own herbs in a potent tincture (experimenting with different herbs) and have found that some combinations that i use are very helpful in making my hair shiny, and healthy looking.
here are a few tips:
*use APPLE CIDER VINEGAR mixed with and herbal mixture to give your hair shine and body.
*use HONEY to mosturize your hair. (this will lighten your hair over time,....so BRUNETTES should use MAPLE SYRUP)
*ordinary kitchen herbs such as ROSEMARY,
CINNIMON, CLOVES, are very useful in restoring
hair shine, highlighting hair, and making it SMELL
good!
*EGG is also good in your hair! the YOLK
can be used as a conditioner. (i usually mix the yolk with the maple syrup and a little bit
of olive oil...it works marvelously!)
*OLIVE OIL heated up a bit is an excellent mosturizure/conditioner. you can add essential oils to scent the olive oil. (lavendar, patchouli
and rosemary are nice)

Egg on your face
eggs are wonderful for toning your face, and mosturizing.
*for DRY skin= use the yolk of the egg
*for OILY skin = use the whites.
apply to your face after washing, and
leave on for about 10-15 min.
->the egg will dry, and tighten.
->wash it off with warm water and a
cloth.
